Texas Holdem Festival Begins Shuffling Cards Today |
Event Runs All Weekend
CLEVELAND -- Dozens of dealers are learning the
details of poker, and it's all for charity, NewsChannel5 reported.
Today marks the first day of a poker festival at the Nautica Entertainment complex in the flats. It starts at 4 p.m. Dealers were training Wednesday night for the Texas Holdem festival. The hourly seat fee ranges from $10 to $15, depending on what game is being played. Some of the charities benefiting from the event include the Special Olympics, Easter Seals and the Cleveland Police Athletic League. This is the first year for the Nautica Charity Poker Festival, but developer Jeff Jacobs said he hopes this will become an annual event, WEWS reported. Jacob said he wants to see Charity Card Centers established to benefit charity. He also hopes poker will help spur job creation and economic development in the flats. The festival begins Thursday at 4 p.m. and runs until midnight all weekend.
