April 4, 2005 -- Gaming
software company MobileGamingNow, Inc. (MGN), a Nevada Corporation,
announced today the launch of the world's first interactive, multi-player
mobile phone gaming system for poker.
Called the Mobile Gaming Platform(C), the software creates a turnkey gaming
platform for poker to be played on a mobile phone. The first game available
on MGN's platform is the popular Texas Holdem. Called MGN Mobile Poker(C),
up to six players per table can play against each other on mobile handsets
by downloading the game to a mobile phone, installing it and logging into
the game.
"We're the first company to go to market with interactive, multi-player
software for playing poker on a mobile phone," said CEO Mark Jensen. MGN
acquired the Mobile Gaming Platform(C) in March of this year. Jensen said
MobileGamingNow is commencing with plans to offer licenses for the game
Texas Holdem to be played on mobile phones and hosted on the Mobile Gaming
Platform(C).
According to the research service PokerPulse, more than 1.88 million poker
players made real money wagers online in February, 2005 with nearly $200
million being wagered every day. For the year 2004, commissions or rakes
from online poker will total $1 billion.
In 2003, overall Internet gaming wagers totaled nearly $5.7 billion and
according to industry analysts, Christiansen Capital Advisors, wagers will
grow to more than $18 billion by the year 2010.
According to Screen Digest there are more than 400 million game-enabled
handsets world wide and 2004 mobile gaming revenues are nearly $1 billion.
Wireless Week estimates there were at least 183.1 million U.S. wireless
subscribers in 2004.
"We build software and license it to gaming companies," Jensen said. "We
believe there are more than 2,000 gaming companies in the market willing to
offer Texas Holdem for play on a mobile phone. Players can download and play
the play-for-fun version today at our website. Our play-for-money version of
Texas Holdem is available for licensing today."
Jensen said according to industry analysts at PokerPulse.com, only 210 sites
are dedicated to poker (as of October 2004), and the vast majority of these
support only a handful of players. "There is a tremendous opportunity for
growth," he said.
