Contest
winners will be able to test their poker skills against
rockers Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), John Rzeznik (Goo Goo
Dolls) and Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction/Red Hot Chili
Peppers) in the first Vegas Rock Star Poker Tournament
and Sweepstakes Aug. 26-28 at the Palms Casino Resort.
Clear Channel Entertainment Properties and the Las Vegas
Convention & Visitors Authority, with the Palms, are
producing the event. Winners of Clear Channel radio
promotions in New York, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Los
Angeles and San Francisco as well as two Internet
winners picked from registrations at
vegasrockstarpoker.com will compete. Sweepstakes
registration will remain open through Aug. 12.
Winners
will go through a poker tutorial before having dinner
with Navarro, Lee and Rzeznik where they will get to
know their fellow contestants. An exclusive private
party for contest winners will follow the all-in
tournament, where the winner will take home $10,000.
The Palms is also the host to Bravo's "Celebrity Poker
Challenge" television series, where Navarro won the
first round of the cable series' third tournament. He
will play in the final round, which is set to air Aug.
12, for a $100,000 prize that will go to the winner's
charity of choice.
Along with Navarro, the final game will feature race car
driver Jeff Gordon, who was revealed last week as the
second round winner.
The game continues Thursday (July 22) when
comedian/actor David Cross, a contestant during the
show's first tournament, will return to play against
three fellow cast members of the Fox sitcom "Arrested
Development," as well as actor Peter Facinelli. Upcoming
celebrity participants include chef Bobby Flay, actors
Hank Azaria and Steve Harris and comedian Jeffrey Ross.
