when u first started playing online, say the first 3-4 months, how much money did you put out ? and how long did it take till you were in the positive overall?
According to my records, $205.62 and 13 days before i stayed positive for good.
I just started playing for real money. I played at Partypoker one night and lost $85. I switched to The Gaming Club, and bought in for $50. Played 3 days now and I have over $600 playing $.50/1 tables. I'll never play anywhere else again.
I have been playing for about 14 months online now and I was down $800 in the first 3 months or so. Took me a while to adjust to online poker. After about 4 months I got the hang of it and started winning some tourny's and am doing well now.
i started out by sending Partypoker $50 at a time...and would play at the NL25's....i lost my $50 buyin 6times in a row....each time id take a little break (as i sorta put poker on the same level as sportsbetting, you have to become better than the people your up against, in sportsbetting its the linesmakers) and i really didnt want to go through the same learning curve...i read a few poker books in that time...and sent another $50...tightened up....found the $10+1 NL SNG...and did very well at those (as i said to myself, if i cant finish top3 of 10, this isnt the game for me) I would play those and the NL25's...after 2 weeks of playing like that i had my account to $2500...and the rest as they say is..........
I started learning at Paradise Poker and lost over $1000 in the first 9 months. I then joined this forum and read all about the bad things at Party Poker. However one player on this site who seemed to know what he was talking about disagreed with all the bad mouthers so I took a look at Party and deposited just $100. That was last July and I have since made a profit of just over $3000 playing maximum $5/$10 but mostly £2/$4 or $3/$6. So I would just like to say a big thankyou to "Z" for giving advice and letting me see the light.
I actually did better when I first started than I have been lately. My first six months I was winning >2 BB/hr at limit. Since then I've barely been breaking even, lowering my overall win rate to just under 1.5 BB. But that's statistical fluctuation for ya.
For over 2 months, I made at least $100 per day playing 10/20. I had a few nice days where I made over $1000. Then on one night, I decided to play a little before I went to bed. This was the biggest mistake I've made. I got rivered a couple of times. I also got hit with some bad beats and went on tilt. I was up until 9:30 in the morning and lost around $4000 in one session. This was a couple of weeks ago and I honestly still can't believe it. For those of you that just started playing...a word of advice. Always set yourself a cash limit. Both up and down. My limit was usually after I was up at least $100, I wouldn't go below that point. When I dropped down $300, it wasn't my day. I didn't stick to that and it cost me big time.
