About three weeks ago I was at the Bellagio, and I was watching a 5 star tourny and seen Erik Lindgren representing Fulltiltpoker.com head to toe. So I got home, and checked it out. Its a online site, that is in Beta form right now. Its funded/sponsored by Phil Ivey, Howard L., Chris Ferguson, Erik Lindgren, and others.
I activated my account to check things out, ( you can only play, play money right now)
Ive been a Holdem player now for 5 years, and have been trying to learn and master stud. So I sit at the 10/20 play money table at full tilt. Well the table has one opening, and one reserved seat that says Phil Ivey on it. I sit down, and play, and about 30 minutes into playing Phil Ivey takes his seat. Im thinking no way this could be him, but then everyone is talking to him about very personal, and Las Vegas things, and how many WSOP tournies he is going to play in. After awhile I was convinced it was him. So it was kind of neat to play against him.
I played for like an hour, and won 600 bucks play money, and actually took down phil in a heads up play with a straight, when he had two pair.
Just curious, but have any of you checked this site out? And do actually think that Phil Ivey would sit at a play money table?
I had a conversation with on of my friends, who watched me play. He didnt think Phil would sit their and play, but I disagreed that it would be a great marketing, and advertising promotion for them to play.
All the pros that sponsored/or had money invested all had reserved seats at their respective tables.
All in all it is a nice sight, but I didnt like that they didnt have the pot size during the games, but it has a nice poker room scene as it looks over the Vegas Strip.
Probably was him. What better way to get people interested in your site than to sit and play when you are a pro. I'm sure as soon as they fire up real money, he'll be playing that instead.
FYI, if you play UB, keep an eye out for Phil Hellmuth. I have played him a couple of times at 50/1. Must be in his contract or something that he has to play all levels. Not sure.
I just signed up on this site, it's great!
The only thing I miss it that I can't tell the pot size without holding my mouse over the chips.
Other then that it looks great!
its my opinion these guys see the success of other sites like PP/PS and UB (who has a few pros representing their site)...so it only makes sense from a business perspective to launch your own site with a few other top pros...id be curious as to their own personal stake in the site....Devilfish has said at the table he owns 1% of UB...id like to know how much these guys own of fulltilt...it wouldnt surprise me if it was a significant part...im sure a lot of these top pros who have banked a lot of money are looking to get into other business' etc...and there's probably no better place to put your money into now than something like an online poker site, especially if you own a decent size and you can use your own name to attract players to the site....
I played with Chris Ferguson last night on there. It's a pretty nice site. All the pro's have cartoon images of themselves as their avatar. I hate to say it...but he was getting the crap kicked outta him. I guess because it was play money and people dont really have anything to lose.
I was also curious what kind of interest each player has in it also?
Its a nice site, and I would expect it to blow up once they get out of Beta Form.
Phil said that the real money tables will be up in a month, and was asking all the players at the tables if they had any feedback to email
