Video poker plan isn’t fair
March 6, 2004
In response to the state wanting to decrease the percentage paid to restaurant and bar owners from video poker, I would like to say this is very unfair.
These business people do all the hard work and put up with all the headaches that are involved in keeping these machines operating and bringing in millions of dollars for the state.
So what’s their reward? They are informed that they should take a cut in their percentage because their business partner, the state, wants a bigger piece of the pie.
And for what reason? Is it so they can squander it away like they always have in the past? I would think this is not a good partner to be in business with.
If I had anything to say concerning this matter, I would urge the business owners to band together and say, come and pick up the machines. I believe you would receive full support from the people who patronize your establishments.
So does the state want to keep raking in the millions or get greedy and wind up with nothing?
I thought the main objective was to keep profitable businesses in our state operating, not close them down.
